Planning to rent a car in Quito? Before you book, there are a few things you should know — especially if you’re traveling from abroad.
If you’re a foreign visitor, yes. GoCar Ecuador requires a credit card as a deposit for international renters. This is standard practice for any rental company in the country.
You’ll also need your passport and a valid driver’s license from your home country. An international driver’s license is accepted in Ecuador — you don’t need a local one.
Ecuador uses US dollars, so there’s no currency exchange to worry about. Here’s a general price reference with GoCar Ecuador:
| Vehicle type | Daily rate (approx.) |
|---|---|
| Economy car | $25 – $35 USD |
| Sedan | $35 – $50 USD |
| SUV / 4×4 pickup | $55 – $90 USD |
All vehicles include unlimited mileage. No surprise charges for the kilometers you drive.
